FOAMGLAS® insulation: Economy and ecology, all in one

Effective thermal insulation helps considerably in saving energy, and is therefore a must today. The question of the choice of suitable insulation material can only be answered sensibly by looking at the whole picture:

    • Does the insulating material convincingly combine economy and ecology?
    • Does it have a positive energy and emissions balance sheet?
    • Is its service life above average?
    • Do its insulating properties remain unchanged and can premature expensive renovations be avoided with it?

FOAMGLAS® insulation comes out exceptionally well in this overall assessment. Long service life, safety, environmental compatibility and economic feasibility make FOAMGLAS® insulation the preferred insulating material for the whole building envelope.

The inorganic safety insulation

FOAMGLAS® insulation, the inorganic safety insulation of cellular glass, has been proving itself for well over fifty years. With its millions of hermetically sealed glass cells, FOAMGLAS® insulation corresponds to the ideal type of an insulating material. Due to the material structure, the vapour barrier is already “built in”. FOAMGLAS® insulation is absolutely waterproof and vapour-tight. Due to its cell geometry, FOAMGLAS® insulation has extraordinary compressive strength, even under long-term loads.

In addition to this there are further advantages due to the specific properties of the raw material 'glass', such as incombustibility, dimensional stability (no shrinking, no swelling, no dishing), its acid resistance and resistance to attacks by gnawing animals and insects (no rotting).

Positive ecological and energy balance sheet

FOAMGLAS® can be manufactured with up to 60% recycled glass (currently automobile windscreens and waste from the fenestry industry). FOAMGLAS® insulation is completely free of CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs and other pollutants. Its extraordinarily long service life has a very positive additional effect on FOAMGLAS® insulation’s total energy balance sheet.
